Engineering Director - Pembrokeshire, UK

FULL-TIME

Salary: £ 35,000

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the company's engineering resources to handle various design projects for a diverse customer base.

  • Manage concept development activities. Expected to conduct design solutions that are manufacturable and cost-effective.

  • Take responsibility for the projects from start to finish in the design and manufacturing cycle.

  • Define and maintain engineering work plan and project timelines, implement new strategies, technologies, and methods to improve productivity and drive projects to completion.

  • Guide and capture customer needs, ensuring design proposals fulfil client specifications.

  • Conduct technical reviews with customers and stakeholders using effective verbal & written communication skills.

Skills, experience & qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level in either PhD MSc, MA, MEng, BA, BEng or BSc in either materials, mechanical, industrial design or equivalent science degree.

  • Substantial expertise directing multiple design projects within R&D and Design with exposure to workshop tasks and knowledge in engineering, material mechanics, & composites manufacturing processes.

  • Proven leadership & development of engineering and technical teams.

  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software, experience in CATIA V5, Solidworks or NX; Microsoft Project is a plus.Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead a small team.

  • Acts with a sense of urgency to meet our own and customer’s deadlines.

  • Proficiency in English with solid collaboration and communication skills at managerial level.

Composite Engineer - Pembrokeshire, UK

FULL-TIME

The salary £ 27,000 – 29,500 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute concept development activities. Expected to provide design solutions that are manufacturable and cost-effective.

  • Take responsibility for the projects from start to finish in the design and manufacturing cycle.

  • Determine composite processes which may include resin infusion and prepreg systems such as carbon and fiberglass, across a broad range of products.

  • Define/maintain engineering work plan and project timelines, implement new strategies, technologies, and methods to improve productivity and drive projects to completion.

  • Create 3D models, drawings and manuals implementing GD&T methodology using CAD software.

  • Carry out DFMEA, FEAs, Tolerance Analysis and other theoretical studies.

  • Responsible for material selection and justification for functional components when required.

  • Guide and capture customer needs, ensuring design proposals fulfil client specifications.

  • Conduct technical reviews with customers and stakeholders using effective verbal & written communication skills.

Skills, experience & qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level in either PhD MSc, MA, MEng, BA, BEng or BSc in either materials, mechanical, industrial design or equivalent science degree.

  • Product design experience with knowledge in material mechanics, engineering & manufacturing processes.

  • Display sound knowledge and hands-on experience in composite design technologies and laminate definition, including structural components such as sandwich panels, bonded joints; processes and tooling solutions.

  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software, experience in CATIA V5, Solidworks or NX.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead a small team.

  • Acts with a sense of urgency to meet our own and customer’s deadlines.

  • Quality and standards-driven with a flexible attitude to deal with problems.

  • Work confidently in busy shopfloor and cross-functional team environments.

  • Proficiency in English with solid collaboration and communication skills.
